Workshop Details
For most of history, preserving food was an essential part of daily life. Long before modern refrigeration, families relied on careful preparation and storage methods to ensure food could be enjoyed long after harvest. Learning these skills today not only connects us to traditional practices but also strengthens our ability to steward resources wisely.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the foundational principles of food preservation with a special focus on safe and effective home canning. Students will be introduced to the essential tools, techniques, and safety practices required to preserve food for long-term storage.
Throughout the course, we will discuss the practical steps involved in preparing food for canning, maintaining proper sanitation, and ensuring safe preservation methods. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how preserved foods can play a valuable role in homesteading, preparedness, and responsible household stewardship.
By the end of the workshop, students will leave with the confidence and practical knowledge needed to begin preserving food at home, along with a deeper appreciation for the wisdom of storing and preparing food with care and foresight.
