Workshop Details
Many people today are curious about where their food comes from and how animals are responsibly processed, yet few have opportunities to observe or learn this process firsthand. This workshop provides a thoughtful and guided introduction to livestock processing from both a practical and biblical perspective.
Participants will explore a biblical understanding of animal stewardship, humane harvesting, and the responsibility of using God’s creatures for food. Through guided instruction, students will learn the full process of taking an animal from field to fork—covering ethical harvesting, respectful handling, field dressing, and practical butchering techniques.
Throughout the course, each step will be considered through the lens of Scripture, recognizing that dominion and compassion are not opposing ideas but complementary aspects of faithful stewardship (Gen. 1:28; Prov. 12:10). Participants will discuss the responsibilities that come with caring for animals, the importance of minimizing suffering, and the humility required when receiving food from God’s creation.
By the end of the workshop, students will leave with both practical knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the provision of food through God’s created order—cultivating gratitude and responsibility for the life that sustains us.
