Workshop Details
The wilderness can be both beautiful and unforgiving. When modern gear fails or conditions change unexpectedly, the ability to rely on fundamental survival skills becomes invaluable. Learning these skills not only prepares us for emergencies but also deepens our understanding of the natural world and our place within it.
In this two-day Wilderness Survival Intensive, participants will learn the essential principles that allow people to survive and function safely in the outdoors. Through hands-on instruction and practical field exercises, students will explore the core skills that form the foundation of wilderness survival.
Rather than relying on specialized equipment, this course focuses on developing knowledge, awareness, and practical skills that can be applied in real-world situations. Participants will learn how to prioritize needs, work with natural materials, and make thoughtful decisions in challenging environments.
Throughout the class, instruction will combine demonstration, guided practice, and field scenarios that allow participants to apply what they are learning in the landscape around them.
Topics Covered
Participants will learn and practice skills such as:
Survival priorities and decision-making in emergency situations
Firecraft, including primitive and modern fire-starting methods
Emergency shelter building
Water collection, filtration, and purification
Basic navigation and wilderness orientation
Primitive trapping and food procurement
Herbal medicine and wilderness first-aid
And more…
By the end of the intensive, participants will leave with a strong foundation in wilderness survival skills and a deeper confidence in their ability to think clearly and act effectively in the outdoors.
