This course covers everything from establishing pace count to map reading (topography, symbols, grid coordinates, etc.) to basic compass use (shooting an azimuth, calculating declination, etc.). Once that foundation is achieved, students will participate in several pre-set navigation courses to test their knowledge under the guidance of COS instructors.

Designed for those ready to advance their skills in herbal medicine, this workshop focuses on one of the most efficient and potent extraction methods—percolation tincturing. Students will gain hands-on experience crafting their own remedies, while learning the step-by-step process needed to confidently replicate these techniques at home. As with all our herbal workshops, this course blends practical skill-building with a biblical appreciation for God’s provision through creation.

Wilderness Herbal First-Aid

In this cozy and hands-on workshop, students will learn to use a round loom and knit their own hat from start to finish. It’s a perfect introduction to the world of fiber arts, ropework, and handmade clothing. The process is beginner-friendly and easy to replicate at home, and the relaxed setting fosters both creativity and fellowship. For those interested in going further, follow-up classes will explore more advanced techniques such as peg loom weaving and inkle loom weaving.
