Workshop Details
Working with simple tools and building something with your own hands is a skill that many children rarely experience today. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn the basics of tool safety and simple woodworking while creating something both useful and meaningful.
In a time when many schools have phased out woodshop programs, Cedarwood Outdoor School brings these foundational skills back—introducing young builders to measuring, cutting, assembling, and constructing with real tools in a safe and guided environment. Each student will build their own wooden birdhouse while learning the basic steps of small woodworking projects.
Once the birdhouses are assembled, students will have the opportunity to decorate their finished project before taking it home. Hung in a yard or garden, these birdhouses can provide shelter for local birds and become a lasting reminder of the skills learned during the workshop.
No prior experience is required—just a willingness to learn, build, and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands.
