Workshop Details
Carving simple tools from wood is one of the oldest and most satisfying outdoor skills. With just a knife, a piece of green wood, and a bit of patience, a simple branch can be transformed into something both beautiful and useful.
In this hands-on workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of safe knife use while carving their own wooden spoon from a fresh piece of wood. Under the guidance of Cedarwood Outdoor School instructors, participants will practice basic carving techniques and learn how to shape, refine, and smooth their project step by step.
Along the way, students will gain an appreciation for the natural properties of wood and the traditional craft of shaping useful objects by hand. The process encourages patience, attention to detail, and confidence with simple tools.
By the end of the workshop, each student will leave with a handcrafted wooden spoon and a solid introduction to the rewarding skill of wood carving.
